New post vice installed

Featured Replies

Hi

I have previously posted pictures of my anvil and forge in the other forums but today finally got my old 4" post vice attached to my welding bench.  Posted a couple of pictures for anyone interested in the installation. I had to heat the leg and straighten it, but I like the old paint so didn't strip it completely. I didn't manage to get the leg perfectly vertical on the bench so may have to fix it later. This old vice either had a hard life or it wasn't forged perfectly, difficult to know what part of the vice to work the levels from.  Sheeesk, I need a bigger shed! Rebar all over the floor.  Also, newly added recycled beer keg slack tub.

Looks good.  Looks like it will work well for the area your smithy is set up in.

Beer keg slack tub. Cool.  All that falling off paint on the vise aint cool but its part of its history and thats cool. Glad you left it on. I got my granddads anvil and it had a little white paint spilled on the side. I left it on cuz thats the way i got it. Its part of its history. Why change it :-)

I also like the red stand on the left with graduated sizes of toilet paper roll. Convenient.

A bit cold though

Dunk.

if the paper is a bit cold you might consider pre-warming it in the forge, before use.

Just trying to be helpful.

SLAG.
