Exoddus
I found this small 9 pound anvil at a flea market today he said he would take $25 for it. Just curious if it is worth buying. Not sure if it is cast iron or cast steel but it definitely has a line going through the middle of it like it was cast. I don't know much about anvils was hoping someone could let me know if it's worth it or if it would be more of a decoration lol. Thanks! Daswulf
Looks like a decoration to me but I'd probably try to talk him down a lil just to put it on my shelf. thats just me.
Kozzy
Useful for smithing, not really--but there are lots of things you need to dink on which can use a good hunk of iron so I wouldn't hesitate to use it lightly when needed. Price? Well...more of a whim at that price. The Grizzly 11 lb dinker runs $ 23 plus shipping. I call them a "dinker" because those fully cast anvils will rarely stand up to any serious blows. Straighten a nail, set a brass rivet, crack walnuts...all good uses for this.
SLAG
To me it looks like a link in an enormous charm bracelet. " I'm just sayin." SLAG.

swedefiddle
Exodus, You are asking if it is worth $25.00??? It's worth that, if it is worth it to you. You shouldn't ask, here, what WORTH is!! If you like it and want to play, offer a lower bid, or not!! Neil
ThomasPowers
9 pounds is not much of an anvil even if it was steel; If you really want to smith, a hunk of solid steel ten times that weight would be very appropriate.
