if it was found in your location that form usually screams "pre 1800"  Great if you do colonial historical demos and wan the correct kit for it.  Do the ball bearing test---a lot of years for possible structure fires on those and they tend to be softer to start with.

Wasn't there a gigantic PA anvil with a very small horn shown somewhere in the back of AIA?  Similar proportions to this one maybe. Gonna have to dig out my copy and look...

The body on this one looks cast to me just because of the asymmetry.

Yup, page 423.  Very similar horn/body proportions.

My, that's an ugly looking anvil. But isn't it often that ugliness can be sort of endearing. Ask anyone who drives an old Citroen. That anvil would have an interesting history - I'd like to own it. :)
