Hay-Budden Anvil

Featured Replies

Hello All

I Recently was cleaning out an old Tire Shop. In the back corner was a pile of steel beams and other stuff.  When i got to the bottom i found this anvil, the owner told me i could have it if i got it out of there. So after a little cleaning this is what i came up with. Would like to know when it was made , I'm guessing weight is 210# , and how much its worth .  I will probably ending up selling it .

                                                                                           Thanks

WOW!! Fantastic find.  Free??  Unbelievable luck.  The anvil looks to be in great shape.  If you do decide to sell, it won't last long.  Hay-Buddens are a great anvil.  I just bought a 168# one about a month ago and really like it.

What is your location?

If you are between Fresno and Bakersfield, CA, $3/lb. and up, depends how quickly you want to sell it. Per Postman's AIA, ser# A29738 made approx. 1920 +/- a couple years. Yes, 210 lbs. Good luck with it. Nice one!

I'm in the town of Tulare , half way between Fresno and Bakersfield, closer to Fresno by about 20 miles. Thanks for the info i'll probably sell it cause i have no use for it.

People are always complaining about the lack of anvils in California so it will probably go very quickly. The size is absolutely perfect for general smithing that any hobbyist might be interested in, and it's not too big that it can't be moved around with relative ease.  That and the condition should fetch a fantastic return on your investment!

Well if anyone is from California, or anywhere else in the US. I am selling the Hay-Budden Anvil i have for $600. If interested let me know .

Welcome aboard, glad to have you. Even if its for just a while.

Great score, it'll bring a nice price for you, no question.

Frosty The Lucky.

Where is the serial number located on the HB's? I just picked one up last night and want to dig a little deeper into the history.
