Great video of a Bladesmith in action

Featured Replies

I have a hard time following everything he says, but his work speaks for itself. Great hammer control, and interesting thoughts on the direction of his craft and manufacturing in general.

Thanks a ton. I liked how he used a bar of hot steel to temper the blade. Good tip!

That was a really interesting video. Amazing what a man can do if he repeats something a few million times. I liked the pride he had in the knives he makes as well.

Very interesting.  I had wondered about what kinds of dies fit into the dovetails on a cutler's anvil ever since seeing a picture of one.  The one he uses to forge the bevel is similar to the dies I have on my power hammer for forging bevels.

It's amazing to consider that he was able to forge out two gross of blades per day.  That's a lot of work!

Watching him tang them knives in seconds????? Incredible, makes me feel really slow!

his use of the hot cut was great to watch, his californian knife "they like them bigger"lol

Wouldn't you have loved to shake his hand? I bet he had a grip of iron. I can't imagine two gross of knives in a day's work. That is simply amazing.

Great video!! Does ANYBODY know of a video showing fitting of HANDLES?? That is my bugaboo in my neophyte stage of knife making.

  thanks, Eric S.

Amazing and unbelievable!

That one video is one of my favorite, that man is really a master bladesmith.

Great video! I like the folding bowie.
