June 5, 201114 yr I'm not sure if this what they mean by a loose grip but I ran across this old photo of a demo day in my old shop. I had more hair, a better figure and I could swing a hammer all day now I just have bigger hammers
June 5, 201114 yr Sure you weren't changing faces?.........time has been kind........You've kept your ''figure'' very well..........
June 5, 201114 yr Gotta love an old photo of days gone past. The ones that amaze me are the "Is that me?" photos. Mark<º))><
June 5, 201114 yr The most part of the grip is when the hammer hits the metal that is the point the vibrations start in the handle great photo
June 6, 201114 yr Yes Michael you have a rather loose grip and you're not holding the hammer to tightly either. Frosty the Lucky.
June 6, 201114 yr Author My loose grip is due to my little skull... Its quite a treat to see someone swing a hammer when they know what their doing, Mr. Brazel, Clark, Hofi and others. I remember seeing Francis Witaker in his 80s swinging away, I hope I'm so lucky.
June 6, 201114 yr That is amazing. If I tried that my hammer would be stuck in the wall behind me. I try to hold loose so as not to damage my arm. It is something I always try to keep in mind because it is easy to get tense and try to squeeze the hammer handle to death. I swing a three pound, short handled sledge, for general forging and can do so all day long without wearing my arm out. I hope that means I'm holding it at least partially right. Thanks for sharing the photo.....may have to give that a try. (Just make sure the window isn't behind me for the first little while.
