Archie Otteson
Too Hot?
Buzzkill
Hard to judge heat by pictures. The colors tend to appear differently in photos than they do in person. Too much work maybe. I've worked a few of those leaf springs that are 3/4" thick and 3" wide. That will wear you out if hammering by hand. FWIW, I've split some of those length wise, and they are much more manageable that way. Of course if you have a power hammer and/or press you probably don't need to bother splitting them. Archie Otteson
I think my single 20# propane tank has been freezing up all along. That is the hottest it's ever been. That leaf spring was much easier to move with a hammer.
Frosty
I use 100lb. propane tanks and a couple magnetic engine heaters below the liquid line they don't start to slush up unless I'm using more than 2 burners while it's cooler than the teens f. I picked them up at a yard sale and one as a take it for me please deal. The local propane dealer exchanges propane tanks so you don't have to worry about them going out of certification, the one you get is always within the cert date or tested. That IS one hot looking sone of a gun, Archie! Frosty The Lucky.
Archie Otteson
The thermometer said 2200°F. Really just wanted to see how hot it would go. The file started to melt on the corner right where most the sparks were. It is really very impressive.
