The real Ultimate Tongs

Featured Replies

I made these tongs a few years ago to forge anvils and tank turrets. They hold both round square and Zeus's big toe.

Looks like a Guinness Book of World records candidate to me! I think it's time they added a world record held by a blacksmith.

Those are cute. Can we see your BIG tongs now?

One of our OABA smiths here used to work in Stelco's Blacksmith shop and bought a bunch of big tongs for scrap prices which he sold at our meetings. He donated the largest pair, a pair of 16" v bit tongs to the auction at Caniron in Hamilton.

A mate sent me this picture of his wife standing next to these tongs at a historical town on the border of Victoria & New South Wales Australia . Said there was 20 odd more pair like it in the shop . The area where shop is was a paddle wheel river boat station , so i'd say these where at some stage used on repair of the boats
