This is my first knife made using stock removal. Help me out and give me some feedback on what i could do better. Any ideas on how to fix a guard mechanically without adhesive, so that its a perfect fit? Constructive criticisms, compliments are all welcome, I'd just like to get some ideas of what i did well and what i can do better. 13 inches, total in length 1080 Steel, Forge Oxidized Finish (thought it would look better a little more rugged since it will be undergoing heavy use.) Mora wood scales, finished with boiled linseed oil and minwax clear gloss polyurethane brass hand hammered pins (from brass rods, not premade) and brass guard, hand filed from stock Leather sheath handmade and hand-stitched (not my best stitching work but looking for feedback so)
Hello everyone, I have an issue with a big door hinge that haven't done before before and i was wondering if someone has the know-how to solve this small issue for me. a couple of days ago i was invited to give an offer for a really big house being renovated in Larnaka, right in the center of town. i am very excited for this project and i hope i can get the job, but the only problem is that there is a hinge which is difficult to make, i was asked to make one of each piece needed at this job, in order to prove to the architect that i will be able to make everything he needs. he has his doughts because i am new in this line of work and a bit young. As seen in the image below this is double hinge where i am not sure how i can make the connection in the middle. can anyone explain how it is made? i just thought that i can make the same circle done for the pin at the first end, where the hinge is joined at the wall and then cut the slice needed in the middle so the secondary hinge can pass through there and insert the pin. is this the proper way to about it? or does anyone have any other ideas? thanks in advance! hope this helps and someone else in the future!
Need some help here. I have read in David Boye's book "Step By Step Knifemaking" that you can use brake shoe rivets as pins for knife handles. (p145) A female 7 and a male 5 fit each other. The problem is that I have gone to Oreilly's and Fastenal and neither has or know what the product is. They have what I call pop rivets but its not even remotely the same thing. I still owe the guys in my wedding party the knives I promised them so any and all help will be very appreciated.
