Hello all, I used to have a login here but lost it and had to start over. I completed my MFA in Jewelry and Metal Art last year and wanted to share some of my work. I have been forging for about 12 years, and never really had a lot of luck bladesmithing but I have always had a fine art/sculpture background. I chose to forge pattern welded steel and weave Kevlar for my thesis portfolio which surrounds ideas of masculinity, trauma, sexuality and loss of empowerment. It’s generally conceptual work rather than functional. More images to follow. -Trevor

Hello everyone, I’m Trevor from Southern California. I’ve been forging for about 12 years. I started out with self-teaching basics then took CBA classes at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA for about 2 years. Since then I went on to finish a BA in visual art and an MFA in Jewelry and Metal Art. I love pattern welding, and the bulk of my MFA thesis portfolio is sculptural and wearable pattern welded pieces. I forge on my rural property, with a 100lb. Trenton, Chili 2-burner forge, and 50lb Little Giant. I also enjoy fabrication and will employ

Not sure if this is the right place to share this, but here goes... Used some of the excess from my damascus billet to make this little damascus hammer pendant 120 layer random pattern 1095 and 15N20 Flattened the metal out with a rounding hammer, then used a belt grinder to create the little hammer. Sanded to 400 grit, then did a few cycles in ferric chloride/distilled water. Final cut added hydrogen peroxide into the acid. All of this was done at the shop of the Master Bladesmith i am training under VID_207690720_135150_454.mp4

Hello friends. A brother of mine has an idea. He'd like to have his sterling silver purity ring melted down and made into an engagement ring for his lady. It would have a stone set in it. Is this possible? What are the problems?

I was inspired by the recent displays of Damascus pendants. I had tried to make a pattern welded billet. It had too many failed welds in it to be usable (I thought at the time). But the mention of using cutoffs to make the jewelry got me to thinking about my failed billet. I was able to salvage a few sections. I made these two pendants from a couple of those pieces.
