Chichi, you may want to go to American Pioneer Video's web site they have some DVD's on barrel making. Jon Laubach and his are top Gunsmith's and in the video's. They do a demo at the Gun Builders Fair the last full weekend in July at Dixon Muzzleloading Shop. If you live near PA you should try to make this show. Good Luck with the barrel. Jerry P.

I started looking for a vise about a year and a half ago- didn't seem to have any luck. I went to a hammer-in and one showed up. I bought it and my friend made me the stand for a Christmas gift. It's a 5" and weighs 70lbs, with the stand it's 305lbs. Then they seemed to get easier to find. The second one is 5 1/8" weighs 70lbs. I had to make a spring for it and cleaned it with electrolysis. I found "70" and "1892" on the moveable jaw. The third one is 5 3/8" weighs 70lbs. The mounting bracket has a "4" on the bottom and the screw box has a "2" on both sides. There is also an "8" under both jaws. The fourth one is 4 7/8" weighs 60 1/2lbs and is stamped "60 1/2" on the movable jaw. The last one is 7" and weighs 145lbs. I need to make a spring and mounting bracket for it. It has "Iron City" in a star stamped on it. Any idea who made any of these? The electrolysis cleaning method worked great. Here are some things I made on Thursday it was my first try. Any comments or suggestions would be appriciated. First is a hot-cut hardie. Second is a handled punch/drift. Third is a punch/drift.I want to thank Brian and LDW for all the pictures that helped me do this. I learned a lot this time and found out some things I would do different in the future. I am a member of muzzleloadingforum.com there is a lot of info on there. If you log on you can ask questions and there is a gun building section. There are a lot of knowledgeable builders there and they always seem happy to help out. Jerry P.

They are friction primers. The primer has a wire with a loop on it that is hooked to a lanyard. When they pull the lanyard it ignites the primer. The little loop is sometimes still attached to the lanyard. Some guys collect them. If you can find "The Hammerman of Williamsburg"(movie)he makes a worm. I hope this is helpfull. Jerry P.

I was helping a friend do a demo and an older guy came over and said he had two blowers he was going to junk. I told him not to scap them, I'd like to see them. I talked with him yesterday and he said one is an auto draft, cast iron with electric motor. He plugged it in and it worked well. He couldn't get to the second one, so I'm not sure what it is other than it is a hand crank blower. Any info on the electric blower would be appriceated. He said he'd take a fair offer, but I'm not sure what that is. Thanks - Jerry P.
