  1. How about running the oxidation colors?
  2. Congrats GhostTown. I hope it's a nice smooth commission for you, especially seeing as how it's your first.
  3. Just a rant. What are your thoughts? I found a niche in the market awhile back, don't get me wrong I'm grateful, but making the same thing can get tiring. They're not special, anyone could make them but as far as I can tell nobody does. It's not life changing money or anything and it comes in waves but it does keep me from digging into my primary income to keep the hobby going. Sometimes I lose the passion to make them though and have to take a break. I suppose it's a good problem to have. I have no online presence, no online store but that day might come. I've been smithing now for 5 years so that seems like the next logical step. Maybe it's human nature, after all as the saying goes don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyway like I said. Just a rant.
  4. Looks like a heck of a project you got there! That stinks about the scrap yard though. I love the super sucker hood. I can't remember where I found the plans but it works perfectly.
  5. I would basically make an oversized rivet as the handle with the dome being the mushroom cap with maybe a 1" round bar. You'd be upsetting it for days but when it's finally domed you could really shape it to the size you see fit. Then get it smooth and maybe punch some "0" looking depressions randomly around on the dome. After that you'd have to draw the stem down to be comfortable in the hand (guillotine would help) flare it out at the bottom then back down close to the diameter of the shaft of the poker and forge weld them together. Then I would basically make small clusters of random sized rivets, stems drawn down, and weld those along the shaft where they wouldn't be in the way. I'd also experiment would texturing the shaft to look like bark. Make a traditional pointy end and BOOM you got yourself a mushroom themed poker lol. Hope that helps. I definitely would like to see what you come up with.
  6. Go big or go home. A bit overkill I know lol.
  7. All done. Just missing an inner race which I should receive shortly! 20231017_122111.mp4
  8. Well what I do know is they're expensive to replace. Cost me $360 to have 3 SCH 80 pipes cut and bent. I'm one inner race away from a full restore. Can't wait haha!
  9. Rhynowet sandpaper is top of the line. Expensive but well worth it IMO.
  10. Yeah I thought about that after I posted the question. Haha duh moment.
  11. So I understand it's a 3/8" hole. I checked with a tap and it seems to be M10 x 1.25. My question is how does that convert to NPT?
  12. Hello all, if someone gets time, would you kindly measure the leg length for me? I got my hands on the blower mount but I'm going to have to have some pipe cut and bent. After that the restoration will be complete. Thanks in advance!
  13. Like Frosty said, the flexible exhaust pipe may be an option. It has worked perfectly for me.
  14. Looks fantastic. Love the finish.
  15. Spoken like a true champion. Congrats!
  16. At a family function once, at an Aunt's house, I saw a box on the counter with what I thought were some kind of snack. Turns out I was eating the dog treats. Oh everyone had a good laugh at that one.
  17. I forgot to add to my last post It's more of a show piece but still gets the job done. 20230406_171934.mp4
