  1. Just clamp it down, heat it up with a torch as you go and bend it around a form of some sort of the right size. Buy an extra long piece and over wrap it and cut off the excess. Small rebar could probably flex a bit for some leeway. Expensive?....
  2. I will confirm it. Eating takes the edge off lighting up, too. The bad thing is I like to cook. I will probably go from a slim smoker to not being able to fit through the kitchen door.
  3. A rosebud would certainly come in useful for thicker size rebar. Actually for smaller sizes too, as you can heat longer sections, and keep them red hot easily and get more uniformity.
  4. Welcome, from the land of turpentine and pine sap! Looks like you have a good start.
  5. Sorry, I missed this. Thanks. I had to poke a new hole in my belt. Seems eating, for me, curbs the crave. I wish I'd done it long ago.
  6. Eye like it very much Rojo, and the flower looks great, John. I am on the lookout for a used bowling ball.
  7. I imagine what they used for paint or pigment is a study in itself. I looked into the polychromy section, some of it is garish.... George, I visited a lot of places in the Navy when I was young and I wish I could do it all over again and appreciate it as it should be.
  8. I see some traces of color on that. The website lists ivory, gilt and polychromy as the mediums. It would be interesting to see what it originally looked like.
  9. Now that you mention it.... I will be studying the Frisco Line. I love fallen flag history. The railroad hotel project is pretty cool and if the walls could talk (other than the newspapers) I bet they would have some interesting stories.... I've found an abandon spur and have been spinning my wheels figuring out how best to get permission. Other than that, not much on the train front. Just life in general. Spending time with family and trying to stay in touch with friends back home. Keeping up with things as they break, fall apart, etc.... I quite smoking finally and that was nerve wracking. Sounds like you have been very busy and that's good medicine as long as it doesn't over run you. Idle hands, you know.... Fishing is good unwinder too.
  10. Thanks George. I made some today. I drilled the holes, old habits. Punching holes is part of my project for Billy's 1/2" bar challenge.
  11. Good one, Billy Bones. Lol. I'm going to forward that to the "someone" I know.... He's a good sport and I wonder what he'll send me back...
  12. I just re-read my comment, I should slow down when I post something. I was referring to a dissagreement elsewhere, about the blinder thing. Everybody here is very helpful and I hope nobody took it wrong. Where's embarrased emoji when you need it....
  13. I'm with Arkie, I can't wait to see the finished piece. You are inspiring me to give repoussé yet another try.... I'm impressed with your set up, the magnifying lamp adjustment bolt and wrench are nice additions.
  14. Your welcome. I admit Savoy Brown is a little crusty. I found a montage of Honeydew and Beaker but it was quite long.... Fun stuff. And one of making pumkin pies with a chainsaw and bazooka.
  15. Keep your eye out for a cheap lathe in the future. Cut your own taper and much more. Don't wear blinders like others.
  16. Here's a good old rock/blues band. I can't post my favorite song here tho.
  17. It might be worth it depending on your interest and pocket book. Going out to eat in a decent place isn't very cheap either these days. I wouldn't know really until I experienced it. Isn't it cheaper if you book beforehand?
  18. I thought of that but I don't do demo's (sigh) and my nephews are to old for them. A lot of people make jewelry out of them.
  19. Almost like my first experience with fire and flame.
  20. I found a bunch of cut nails at the junk shop, probably wasn't worth the gasoline getting there. Had to buy something. Maybe I can re-sell them as "coffin nails" and make some money. That makes them have mystical powers, so I hear on the internet. Or make a porkupine sculpture.
  21. I figured as much but couldn't resist pulling your leg. . There's at least one company out there selling morris tapers. I bet they don't sell much...
