  1. yup, same concept as where this would help. I actually got a bag of leather scraps at Michaels craft store ( after picking through the bags to find one with usable sizes) and also leather cord for lacing it. Inexpensive really. Get saving those hammers and I hope it helps you out.
  2. Love the shape on that. Thanks for the run through. Great work!
  3. cobbler in a square casserole dish could be the root of pie.
  4. I use coal. couldnt say what kind it is but i have a source...... maybe i'll ask him next time lol. only been there once with the guy that showed it to me. it works well tho, cokes well and heats up well. have a nice pile of it outside the garage. may get more soon as a friend is bringing me an old truck bed so i plan to use that to store it. right now it's under a tarp on roofing tin. I have some extra hammers, cross peins and ball peins so all ya gotta do is come check em out. maybe this weekend if all is good.
  5. What tools do you need? being not far can put you in a good position for that too as for help from us. knowing what ya need can help us help you get em.
  6. Nice work! get a hood and chimney on that forge and start using it
  7. the original question was what is the square root of pie.
  8. Nice, you may want to sink the fire pot more in the table. i'm sure your getting it figured out. and sides on the table help keep the coal in but again... Nice Jeep i have about 7 cj5's laying around mostly parts only, one 66 i'm still rewiring, and one off road only farm fun jeep with a blown transmission. Oh the projects...
  9. Hey Josh, I'm about 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh. not a bad ride really.
  10. Thank you Frosty, I will give this a try some day when I want to build a gas forge. Looks really easy to follow. Nice work. And thanks Spanky for the editing.
  11. That's a possibility Thomas. A lot of times a name will just come to me pretty quickly. This one I can't lock down. Making the piece came pretty easy as to what it was looking like. How can a name or title be so elusive? Can't say I planned any symbolism into this but after thinking about it it could be looked at as such. Tho that I'd leave up to whoever would buy it. To me it's art, like a sculpture. We can all find our own meaning in the things we see. So I want to keep it simple.
  12. Thanks Charlotte, I'll have to ponder on an "artsie" title/ name for it.
  13. also based on what you see, what would you charge for this in 3 evenings worth of work? could be less after the design is now done but it's more a one off. thats out of curiosity more.
  14. John B, I'll give it a shot as i plan to make more of these and would like em to turn out well. forthcoming. sorry DSW....
  15. So I had an idea for a candle holder. Love repurposing. This uses candle cups I made and nail/ spikes I made with other repurposed parts.

  17. I still go to auctions, just don't get caught up in the bidding frenzy. just stick to good deals. if it's a no go it's a no go. i've learned auctioneers to stay away from and ones that are trustworthy.

  20. Your not too far from me really. Probably 25 minutes or so. I work in Washington pa. And it's about a 20 minute ride or so for me. I'll keep you in the loop and if you can make it then great.
  21. Welcome Joe. Where about in Pittsburgh? You should take Ivan up on that as he knows his stuff and you can learn a lot more first hand then you will on your own. I learned a lot from Ivan when he was here and thinking I should bribe him to come hang out another weekend day. I'm just a bit south of Pittsburgh. I'm still young in this art but I've been learning a lot with help here and doing it. Get that forge table built and get at it. Don't forget we all love pictures here.
  22. I understood what he meant but ya never know.
