What did you do in the shop today?

Yep ,,when was a young buck had to work on stuff out of necessity, lack of funds for new stuff,, someone else's problem was my opportunity. Now I try to keep my equipment upgraded to manageable working conditions, but there will always be the unforeseen. I usually do all the work but have wised up and now and take tires to a shop, just worth it to me now.

That stuff use to be fun 20-30 years ago, now the thought of laying on the cold ground under a low clearance vehicle eyes full of debris knuckles bleeding makes my bones ache.
-
As hard as it was against my hammer I figured annealing couldn't hurt so was worth a try, I quenched in oil and tempered the bend to blue and ran out the rest in straw,, collecting pieces and parts for some type of power hammer

Had this old pick down in the furnace cellar since I've been here. Had to replace the water heater so I brought the pick to the shop. Tuff stuff ,,so I annealed/ buried in Ash , still was a bear to upset near the end. Came out ok for my standards.

could be from welding on top of it

Did pole dancing make chickens happier, therefore lay bigger eggs ?

Right , sometimes we send our raw materials oversees , have it milled and such then shipped back here, was just wondering if the tariff was say like a reentry tax, trying to get the milling to return to the US
-
looks like the waist and legs of a Big Boy statue from Shoney's restaurant to the right of shears
-
ok thx

With the pending Tariff on steel and also aluminum do you think the tax will be passed on to the consumer as always, and do you think it may gravely effect you. Higher cost, higher prices, less work?

Tomorrow I will get one done,,had to hurry up and get the cows some hay before dark

Most people in my area know I guard the farm 3 days a week with either a 357, 45 or any number of long rifles,, They get to pick which 3 days. The worst is a little rat thief. He only takes one or two things at a time, you might not notice it gone for some time, but he keeps coming back over time, little by little

I tend to agree with your assessment, the last HB I just sold with a buffalo blower last fall seemed to had the same type of belly horn shape, if I remember right it had numbers in the same location,,it too was center welded, that side where your logo is located on this one has been gouged and marked up pretty bad,,,I will check these numbers with HB numbers ,,,thx
-
Yeahhhh,,as you can see on the waist corners a 120 flapper was used,, there were serious gouges on the outer edges that was extra nasty sharp that needed addressing,,I beat the high spots down then touched the outer edges,,the shiny spots on the numbers is chaulk not grinds,,there is a little imprint above the numbers I chaulked too

Auction buy 157# stamped,,is close by my cheapo scale. $2.10 per pound. # on front base,,,,A34059. Looks like a 0 and two other unreadable numbers on side of heal,, that is all the markings available,,, any ideas on maker?, Is forged welded at the waist,. Ball bearing dropped at 15" rebounds up to 12-13", thanks up front
