  1. Sounds like good advice given, My neighbors have come over to ask what I was up to but thats about it. Dont think police can do anything as long as your inside the city noise ordanance times.. If someone asks politly for a time frame of keeping the noise down by all means keep the peace, sux having neighbors as enemys.
  2. Wow thats alot in my book. Glad I met an old guy that gives me a ton and sells me better stuff at .04 a pound. I know the scrap prices have dropped over half around here.
  3. well if anyone has some extra vises let me know.!! I know a person or 2 looking for one that are new to blacksmithing and im looking for a slightly bigger one.. Ide be glad to purchase them.:)
  4. Why then you waste a perfectly good vise that can be fixed easily.. Ill take all the broken ones!!!!! Got any?
  5. yes there is better steel, but for learning there cheap and easy to get. And for some things why waste good steel. I mean do you really need high end steel to make a card holder or a hook?
  6. at $25 ide buy everyone I could find! I havnt seen one around here for less than a $100 not sure where ya all are finding them
  7. Just about everyone has turned one into something or used it for something. there probaly about the most common easy to get chunk of metal that just about everyone has used. Ive used them for Chisels, to secure my anvil to a stump, Planishing stakes, , hooks, art and many more. Just for fun im curious how many uses you have found for them? Give some people ideas maybe.
  8. Not sure ask someone with more indoor coal experience. For the last year or 2 ive been running Propain. But that seams a bit small of an area for running coal. (ide think) Youd stay nice and warm in the winter....
  9. Not sure I would want to use a coal forge in that small of an area eather.. I use a 9-20 ft area on the concrete pateo under my back porch for my metal working area.
  10. As I understand it you make the screw shaft first. Then take the small square rod and wrap it down your screw shaft. Then take that and Braze it into a tube and theres you male and female ends.
  11. How bout filling it with dirt or sand?
  12. Happen to run across the forum while searching for parts. Just like to say hi, and like what ive read. I do blacksmithing for a hobby and still got lots to learn. Also do some armoring and a ton of wood working.
