  1. Feel free to make them, only caveat I have is you have to post pictures when you do hehe.
  2. I work at a shop where people do not respect tools and abuse them or do stupid things to them, so I had to make an anvil protector. Also it will serve well if I bring my anvil to a hammer in. Chains through the Hardy and Pritchel holes with padlocks on each.
  3. Pete, not sure yet, gotta spark it to see if it's mild or something else, warranting a closer look. My idea is, to make different kinds of dies, and mount them to the top front side, then hang a small helve hammer off the far side. Multiple shapes able to be bolted to the front and far sides for different things, cutters, swages, radii. Raise the whole thing up on heavy steel legs/stand, tong racks and stuff underneath.
  4. Stopped by to visit my friend Robert Eggerling, damascus maker extraordinaire. Robert collects alot of cool stuff, a smith through and through hehe. I bought this here round, the smaller of two he has. It's 10 1/4" round and 11 1/2" long, 268 pounds. I will be making a special anvil with it, more photos here as I go along.
  5. Definitive answers only please, there has already been ALOT of guessing hehe.

    bowie

Found this blast from the past, took some new photos of it.
  7. I saw Matt's Photos, he has 2!!!! I am looking for photo's of people's machines and they're belt drive setups
  8. Anyone run ing a champion mechanical hammer? Can you post some photos and specs of your hammer?
  9. Nice Stand Ironwood! Highside WOW heavy duty!!!
  10. I know right, INCREDIBLE BPM. I would love to know more about that machine whatever it is.
  11. HERE'S what you need Owen :D Watch this at 3:15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdH43wiB0IA
  12. Trinculo thank you very much!! Thanks Kevan! Some Elves stopped by (not the Santa kind) and taught me a new technique for making a drawer or cabinet pull that is self affixing, didn't get a chance to photo it but hopefully there will be some on Mike's Blog.
  13. LOL Bruce, only 9" swing :( Thanks Hollis, it does take 5c with a lever lock (which is AWESOME) and I got a good amount of them for it too. The speed cross slide is pretty cool and I look forward to trying it. The tool holder is just a cut off, i think. I think I could easily find or fab up a tool holder for it. Bed's kinda short for a turret, I think if I found an compound cross slide it could get versatile.
  14. Thanks everyone! George, I think you have that all backwards, and fall into a common mistake of underestimating hobbits! :D Where the hobbits would take time to relax, light a pipe and file in the corners, dwarves would bash it out then get drunk!
  15. Scored this Hardinge HSL-59 "simple operation lathe" today: my actual lathe Lathe info on Lathes.co.uk http://www.lathes.co.uk/hardinge/page3.html Now to figure out what I can do with it.
  16. BFNampa, I make them from the little lollipops because I use them for alot of different things, nice to have a bunch of pieces sitting around that can be turned into 10 different things from one preform, takes me one heat to make each one. Plus, I like the ball as it makes QUITE a good centered and very round head for my nails.
  17. Owen too bad you are against a helve, I think that would be perfect in this case. Are you worried about the blade bowing from being worked by a helve with a varying angle between the dies? The japanese hammers use top and bottom dies that are both crowned just like a hand hammer face.
  18. Pug, nothing specific, they do make a GREAT coat hanger. thanks Mike!
  19. These are awesome Mike! I love seeing things other then knives from spikes.
