  1. That is a kerrihard! A very nice compact hammer. Username Ten Hammers has one, they are good hammers from what I hear. Here is one running:
  2. Very nice Dan!!! I bet a few farmers would not mind a forge to fix things in the field :D
  3. I got a mankel too Paid 25$ for it still had the warning sticker on it :D
  4. Looks like you need a reliner kit, the bottom's not supposed to be in big chunks like that hehe
  5. John, I ordered this book on your and Grant's Recommendation. I look forward to it very much.
  6. Awesome score Mark, Definately going to have to come by for a visit!
  7. 1-No 2-3" is fine 3-go with a clinker breaker either way.
  8. I am with Hollis, mild steel is great for powerhammer tools, cheap and doesn't mark up your dies, if you need more toughness too water quench it.
  9. Looking for photos of Jr Strasil's Grandpa's Bender?
  10. TIRE HAMMER. I think it will be the wave of the future, once the LG's run out or the fanatics price them into oblivion, only tire hammers will be left (of that hammer style). probably will show they're worth in 50 years when they are still running strong too.
  11. Thanks Craig! hehe now i am trying to figure out how to do it the way you thought it was done hehe. Thanks guys! Matt, I split it then forged out each leg seperately. BFNampa you are welcome, man!
  12. Forged this up tonight, all one piece no welds, this is a use for the Triskele form but instead of scrolling the ends I did this, from 5160.
  13. Got to see some of her work this past summer at Peter's Valley, very cool work and a neat lady.

    Tongs

Always drill, the rivet fills the hole, it is done hot. PS why? I didn't post it here for a reason. Thanks Beth, with your powerhammer tongs will be easy peasy! Scott, I just use a hot cut, though I am working on another more repeatable way.

  17. Followed me home awhile ago, paid 5$ did I do OK?
  18. Yeah, you make all your grooves with the Zip, then lay in brazing, then grind the surface clean and flush.
  19. Get your anvils away from the walls, you'll want the most amount of area around them, goes for the powerhammer too. You can put the forge against the wall but you'll want to make it so you can get a long piece through if need be.
  20. LOL! I can think of a bunch of stuff I would love to do on this machine, and could offer to customers no probs. Could do brazed inlay with it, would make nice cap rail that way. Pretty much like a bulldozer engraver hehe.

    Tongs

Here is some of the finished tongs from the methods shown in the tutorial, forged from A36, 3/8" thick by 1" wide by 8" long. 16" reigns, shown in this photo are pickup tongs, bolt tongs for 3/4 square and round, and flat bar tongs for 3/8" thick by 1 1/2" wide.
