  1. Wells Model 8 Bandsaw followed me home, plus a bronze top bronze gear slip roll.
  2. Sweet!!!! I have the same idea Trip for the tire mounted on the rear on a driveshaft. That way you can drill the front round plate at different intervals for different stroke locations and length. Like, one hole 1" away from the center, one hole 2", one hole 3" and so on.
  3. Those look great Dave!! also, if you break the corners on the reigns a bit they tend ot not mark up work that comes in between the jaws a bit.
  4. So did you buy some of this dies? That must be one heck of a stream to run through your shop, to put all that rust and dust on everything every night. I couldn't stand to work like that if I was running such a professional full time tool making operation.
  5. I have seen those pictures already you have posted them many times before, you make it sound like you have alot more dies then those though?
  6. Ahh I see. Do you use many of the 100s of dies you have to make those tools?
  7. Do you have a website Stewat? or photos of the things you make? I would love to see them.
  8. I am now working for Kerry Stagmer at Baltimore Knife and Sword, I am head of the blacksmithing department. Been doing alot of cool things, one is this warhammer with a upset 2" square head and 5/8" square shaft. The detail on the twist of the shaft is my "tortured souls" twist, little faces contorted in pain, brought on by the hammer :D the face on the hammer head was all hot worked in after it was upset. The head has a through hole, the square shaft was forged round then brought through the hole then welded then the top peened over like a little hat.
  9. especially coming from someone with rust on they're dies :D Also, you've maybe had a good strip steak, there is no mechanical that is filet mignon, air hammers are that and lobster tails
  10. I am of the school of thought that (and a student of that specific school), if you are dumb enough to be dumb, then you won't be dumb long cause you will learn the lesson the hard way and really learn it and not be dumb again. I might make it up to the great white north sometime maybe in the next bit of time here and you can bet I will come for a visit and some brews! I think I'll like Alaska better then you'll like NY hehe
  11. I should do somethin like that just so you can visit, a visit from you would be worth the shwoopin!
  12. Hey Dan thanks! Yeah it looks like, maybe induction?
  13. dang this thing's HUGE! cut some small stuff to try it out but it's not mounted so no big stuff. It's STOUT, bigger and thicker then I thought it would be. well worth the 100$ IMO plus, the chingrish instruction manual was worth the price all on it's own LOL Really wanted to test how thick a piece it could cut so I tried it out: Yup it works!!!!!!!!
  14. Just ordered an Enco 12" bench shear, anyone have experience with these?
  15. Then you don't put a spring on and leave others to do what they want! :D
  16. No worries yet Jerry :D Let me make some mor tongs then i'll see hehe. Gonna put one of my spare anvils on th ebottom shelf there to weight it down a bit.
  17. I am gonna get some 1 pound packs of different rods from mcmaster in a couple weeks top try them all out.
  18. 5160 also I would say, and that can be had in larger sizes, mcmaster has it in .5" thick by 2" and 3" wide bars
  19. 4140 would do pretty good I think, and they have it in flat bar
  20. Stick makes solid welds!!! Even if they are ugly. Hang this thing from the ceiling and it rings like a bell.
  21. Oh cool, I am still learning about stick and different rods and stuff.
  22. Yeah I will try it for sure. I got a bunch of those springs and figured it might fit and it did, i kinda laughed but then thought about it for a moment.
