  1. You can use Babel fish to sort of translate this! http://www.cientific...microondas.html I won't be trying it, looks far too dodgy even if it does work ... :P
  2. I did the same with mine Dave! Knocked out the nasty fibreglass one and replaced it with a wooden one.
  3. Good video Dave. Where did you get the hammer, I have one just like it. Vic.
  4. The minimum number of parts would be 4 - Blade, slotted wood for a handle, Pivot pin and stop pin. In practice though more parts are normally used. Have a look at some of the fittings on a Knife supply site for a better idea of whats available.
  5. As said, soft bricks are fine but use a hard brick on top of soft ones for the floor of the forge.
  6. I made my first one out of wood scraps with a clear plastic window, hardest part to find at the time were gloves that were long enough. I was given a small metal blast cabinet a while back which works well enough. It has a shop vac connection (filtered) on the side that reduces interior air pressure to help prevent leaks.
  7. Just a thought but have you seen this?
  8. It depends a lot what media you use in your cabinet. I only use Aluminium Oxide so I get a matt finish, you could use shot though for a more shiny finish. Lots of different media out there, your local vendor should be able to advise. Here's a guide though: http://www.kramerind...ction-guide.htm Vic.
  9. Great set of pictures, thanks for posting.
  10. Have a look on ebay for anvils, I got one like this and paid about £130 for mine. http://www.ebay.co.u...b#ht_500wt_1156 Mine had light surface rust but not a mark on it - it had never been used by the look of it. The same anvil is still made by vaughans at over £430 so you can still get bargains on ebay. Vic.
  11. Not too sure if you can make whiskey from beer, but you can make beer from bread! :)
  12. If I was making one I'd do it in my milling machine with a nice sharp endmill. Vic.
  13. I saw a Smith using about 80/20 Charcoal/Coke mix and was making some really nice stuff on it. He says the coke made the fire a bit hotter than charcoal on it's own and lasted a little longer. Vic.
  14. That's what I was going to suggest. Worked great for me on some old rebar. Vic.
  15. Looks good to me, the only thing I'd replace when you get a minute are the wheels. A few drops of some hot stuff and the wheels and tyres will be toast! I'm sure you're really going to enjoy using the forge though.

    Mokume?

Some good ideas there. I planned to sandblast the sheets anyway (There is blaster at work and I also have my own) but I hadn't thought about copper wire - I reckon thats a brilliant idea! Vic.

    Mokume?

Yeah maybe, next time my niece visits I could get her to bring a couple of bucks worth over to play with!
  20. Saw this guys work last weekend at a show. Some very delicate work. The toasting forks in particular were very nice, the pictures don't do them justice. http://www.nicwestermann.co.uk/
