You will not be allowed to fence with a homemade weapon. The last time I checked official USFA documents (my son fences Sabre, E2008), blades are made from a maraging steel. There are flexibility and weight tests. With foil and epee, the point reaction to a touch is tested before each bout. Buy an epee from any dealer listed at the United States Fencing Association website.

No one has complained. Surrounded by houses on five sides. I don't start work until 9:00 am and stop at 4 pm. Using charcoal and gas mostly. Still use coal, no complaints about smoke. Have passed out some hooks and things. Neighbors think it's great. So Far. Bob

Racer, We use MG (powder)for fuel in our rocket propellant. We have 200 lb drums of the stuff (stored properly in a bunker) and are VERY CAREFUL when mixing propellant. Glad you didn't use water. A propellant plant in Utah went up in a nice fireball when the fire department dropped water on a minor fire. Didn't know about the drum of MG sitting in back. Our setup is to dump a load of sand on any MG fire and get the xxxx out of the building and far away.

I live in a 1st ring suburb just south of Minneapolis with neighbors all around. Also, I rent. My landlord let me set up a shop in the backyard behind the garage. My neighbors think it's cool to have someone "odd" around. Paid careful attention to the fire and noise ordinances and don't work before 9am and after 4pm. I handed out some hooks and there are no problems. I also roast coffee for several people around here. That helps a bit. Bob

Well, when I was 7, a friend and I torched about 3 acres of grassland in a suburb north of Pittsburgh Pa. This was back about 45 years ago. Due to trauma, I don't remember very much. Or is that selective amnesia? Bob Brashear
