  1. sorry Thomas I didn't meen to misinterpret your post I was just trying to be helpful.
  2. just my 2 cents. It looks like Thomas is sugesting that the hinges should be placed in a forge and forge welded to correct the break. Just what I got out of his post. Pics of the hinges would help alot though just to see where the problem is and if it would be possable to reforge the WI.
  3. He is talking about medium carbon steel. Ask your local steel suplier and they will know what you are talking about. What are you planning to cut with them? what is com? do you meen con as in convention?
  4. I have to say how true this is. I am buying my first anvil and was showing the pictures around work just to have a co-worker tell me that her dad has "one of those" in the basement. She is going to check to see if Dad is willing to part with it. Oh the anvil I am buying is a 168# mouse hole. I will post pics when I pick it up Thanks Cbl4823 for the line on the anvil :)
  5. where in PA are you and are you willing to part with one for a newbie? :)
  6. you can also order crossbow parts online. I will try to find the company anme toniht and post it later

  9. Mike looking at the pictures in the gallery I would say most of these guys can make better hand tools than you can by at a retail store. Hopefully one day I can say I can make better hand tools too. :D
  10. buy a 3 weapons mask from tripplett arms it will save an eye if you are going to be playing with eppees. if you want to learn how to fight with a rapier then I would sugest hooking up with your local SCA group for training and some fun. I have been fencing in the SCA for about 7 years and like that stile alot better than the coligate/ olimpic stile. you can pm me if you would like pointers :)
  11. I would think that most of us have issues doing math in public at least sometimes. :)
  12. Another psychadelic flash back done by the great and talented Adrian Wood. I realy like the way you have made both gates. Both gates flow well and are not jarring to the eye even with the bright colors. Very well done. bravo :)
  13. That is cute. All though he looks like part of a chain gang in that outfit :)
  14. welcome to IFI. please do post pictures we love pictures :D
  15. 20 months is not to young to work on hammer control but I would be leary about letting him hit hot steel. :D
  16. The google book Smith's Work is missing pages 64-69. I just thought i would let you guys know it is not complete.
  17. I like it it looks great. Can we get closer pics of the blade and see what it looks like in hand for a size refrence? It looks realy big for a 1-hander. Nice design though. :D

  19. If I had a foundry I would have prefered that course however I don't have one nor do I have the resources at the moment to build one. I will look into seeing if I can find the stock. Thanks
  20. ok the wall treatment I am thinking about doing a coper "quilt" with 1' squares of coper flashing Repoussed in diffrent designes like a quilt. I have the squares and thought that I could braze them together to make the "quilt". The copper pipe question was- Can you flatten copper pipe and use a braze in the center of the pipe to fuse the sides and make 1 bar of flat stock. What I was thinking with that is if it was possable to make a stock removal copper knife for a pagan friend of mine because they have issues with using iron in there rituals. It is easer to get copper pipe for me because I have not a clue where to fine 2" wide 1/2" thick coper flat stock. I thought the pipe would work if I could fuze the center together as I flattened it. It was just a thought :)
  21. Welcome and greetings from the Kingdom of Atlantia :)
