  2. well i spent some time and made a firepot fron some heavy sheet plastic... when i got a desingh i liked i drew it up.... its 4 inches deep 13 inches long (including the lip) and 10 inches wide (again including the lip) dimensions are 10 1/2 " x 8 1/8 " x 4" i am gooing to try to use ferkairs clinker breaker idea because i like it. if you want it bigger i guess save it and then open it in paint!

  6. looks dont awlys matter you know but the quality is also important. if i was to buy a 50 dollar firepoker that was super nice and have it break wile pilling a log it wouldent be as good as a 100 dollar one that may not be as pretty but works for years and years to come... well anyways it looks good. i like the twist!

  9. has anyone got any firepot cutouts or dimensions.... i am thinking of making a real forge with a half inch thick mild steel firepot with a real table arround it that has small weels for eassy transport... anyway if yopu know of printable cutouts or dimentions of some sort please post because i dont wanna mess this one up!:D
  10. i use a brake routor for my firepot in a table madde o steel. my first anvil was a solid 20 pound piece of steel... it worked.. so anything that is hard and solid should work..

  13. heres mine.. its my starter anvil so its a little bit dinged up but not to bad...(dont mind the claw hammers its an old pic.... 110 pound vulcan.
  14. well just a second ago i dumped a garbage can o sawdust on the fire and woof burned my arm to death well i guess i leared my lesson.......:o
  15. hehe old post... anyway i was wondering the same... i burn charcoal and i seem to awlys get a red hot black glassy mixture after.. i use sand arround my forepot in the cracks and sweep a little in but i doubt its melting! so is this black glassy mixture clinker from the charcoal?

  17. well wile makin firepokers i findit really hard to split the end with the chisel or whatever by myself. i awlys ushally have my neibour come pop by and hold it wile i split it. Well i guess the question is how do you guys ushally hold it without help? I was thinking maby one os those rollers for using at the table saw? whats you method? thanks.

  21. i dunno what type steel it is it just was a really thick hard piece i had laying arround the shop... it fite loosley in the hole but not looslet enouph to shake...
