  1. He's on the list and Semper Fi to all our brothers in the Armed Services.
  2. Well I think that this whole walking thing is becoming a habit. I have not spent a day in bed since my last post on the 20th. Five whole days and counting. I will keep you all updated. Thank you all for the words of encouragement. BTW it is time to thank all of the veterans out there today.
  3. That looks great Brian. I like everything with one exception....it is in California and I am in Massachusetts. We gotta figure a way to get it to MA.
  4. I walked under my own power for 10+ hrs today. I did it under extreme pain andI had to force myself. I was just sick and tired of being unable to do anything here's hoping that this becomes a habit. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.
  5. Just thought that I would give a quick update. I have seen the neurologist and he said that it will all go away and that I should not wory about it. Yeah right, I have a few choice words for that. I have another appointment with a different neurologist in June. Meanwhile, I am bed ridden, I have not been able to do any smithing let alone my normal daily chores. My fiancee has had to help me in and out of bed as my legs will not support me. I walk short distances with a cane, and we have rented a wheelchair for various outings to the doctors as I cannot walk long distances. I have fallen twice suddenly so now I live in the bedroom upstairs, watch the boob tube and knit. I am without a computer of my own. I am writing from my fiancee's computer. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Keep'em coming that the doctors will find out what is happening to me and I can find out how to fix what is going on and get back to my life. Best, Archiphile
  6. Nice Work Glenn. You got a bead on a Blueprint for that I would especially be interested in how you made the screw threads.
  7. Well I have the results of all of the tests. All scans show that everything is normal. No liesions, no tumors. All the parts of my brain are still there and intact. The scans also show that I actually have a brain, who knew, guess that I will have to put it to more use. (I've got the pictures to prove it) So the doctors and I are still at a loss as to what is causing this to happen. Blood test have all come back normal. I have an appointment with some Movement specialists at Boston University. I will let you all know what we find out. Thank you all for you thoughts and prayers. Best, Archiphile
  8. I am writing this post from my hospital bed. I am asking for your thoughts and prayers, as I have developed a rather nasty head tic. We are on the case. I had any MRI and a CT and an EEG. The doctors and I are all putting our heads together in the morning. I will keep everyone updated. Thank you all.
  9. I hope that you and your mother are doing well.
  10. That is awesome Jeff. I just finished making a pair of bolt head tongs and I too have had problems getting the V to have a crisp angle to the jaw. Now I know how to solve it and it is cheaper that asking the finance dept. for money to by a swage block. I am stealing you Idea.
  11. Nice score! I might also add that I am jelous.
  12. Here is how I see it. If y = 1/2" then the radius is 1/4". If I have a 1' circle then d=1/2" and r = 1/4".
  13. Looks like you had fun. That is a decent looking hammer. Nice job
  14. A very kind fellow delivered this to my door step on Sunday. I was blown away. The only words that I could muster where Thank you so much. Not to mention O my Bob that is beautiful.
  15. As I posted a few weeks back. I feel your pain literally. I burned the middle and ring fingers of my right hand. I too thought that I would tough it out. But the pain made me go inside and run straight for the faucet and icebox, burn gel came latter. Hope that it heels up well and that you learned from that as well. Happy hammering
  16. I too have the 180c it is good for smaller stuff I would say 5/16" is the max with CO2 and .035 hard wire. I do not like it's performance with the gas-less flux. I have been a professional welder for 12 yrs. I will say that you should get 220 and above, don't bother with the 110 models. just my .2 cents.
  17. Sound like fun. I hope that you enjoy it.
  18. That is good work. Keep it and the pictures coming man!
  19. That is a wonderful idea, I really like the simplicity. I too shall have to "acquire" one myself.
  20. the high spot suggestion is very likely to be the cause. I did notice that it is ,much quieter with a piece of hot steel rather then just striking the face. I only wanted to see how loud it was last night to see how long into the evening I could forge. It has settled a bit this morning and is better and I will be getting some chain latter today for the waist. I do not want to glue this to the stump as I hope to take it a long on demos so I need it to be removable. Thank you for all of your comments. Best, Archiphile
  21. So I finally got around to fashioning a proper base for my anvil. I had a stump laying about. This oak stump is about 18-20 inches in diameter and is 2' tall. I routed a 3/4" depression for the anvil to sit in so that it will not move about. The curious thing is that when I struck my anvil on its new mount it rang like a bell. The funny thing is that when I had it set up before, it did not ring hardly at all. I used to have my anvil set upon two oak beam ends that where 8" high and 6" across each. Any one have any thoughts as to why this might be the case? Thanks. Best, Archiphile
