  9. I had the same thing happen to me.... i was trying to forge an old hammer head in to a 'hawk, I worked it to cold (mid-low red) and the whole thing fell apart...
  10. I found two 1963 quarters.... not that much silver to be harvested....
  11. non-ferrous... to be specific: copper and a silver(50%)-aluminum(35%)-copper(15%) alloy, Nanolaminate. so silver brazing is gonna be the best choice... need to compleat that HHo brazing torch, Anyone know of a place to get silver?
  12. Chromium vanadium steel actually... vanadium is a carbide stabilizer, also It has good resistance to corrosion by alkalis, sulfuric and hydrochloric acid; Chromium (Cr) has a tendency to increase hardness penetration. Chromium can also increase the toughness and wear resistance of steel. Probably one of the most well known effects of chromium on steel is the tendency to resist staining and corrosion. Steels with 12% or more chromium are referred to as stainless steels.... toss all this together an it makes a rather rust/corrosion & wear resestant knife. I now actually perfer C&V steel over your normal run of the mill stainless steel.
  13. the hydraulics were stolen by a "crazy blacksmith" to make a power hammer/press, Paul, 8 to 9 in! i'm gonna have to make a sword to beat that!
  14. :o Good turkey carver? I made my wrench knives are 2-4in blades! the one in monthly challenge is a 13mm! That things GIANT! i have a 15/16 here in front of me 11in long before forging! Paul. you have taken the art of tool mutila- re-usefulantion(just coinned this term: to take an already useful tool and turn it in to a new tool) to the next level.... *nods solomly* PS:I got the thought from "cutlers exchange no. 134.556.321.321.472.153.274.365.42" and more notably "Northern tool and equipment" Stainless Steel Wrenchware
  15. wallet, two fixxed blade kifes, husky mini-multitool, small "oldtimer" pocketknife- well loved (gift from dad when i was nine), frost cutlery lockback knife, red G2 pilot, black hevy singing pen, ozarktrails multitool, soapstone dust(about a teaspoon), a bit of soap stone, small wetstone, and a scrap of paper that has "in-234.676" scribbled on it.
  16. the one I'm working on has a three gallon water reservoir and one-gallon aniti-spark HHO holding tank, and the main flashback arrester is right next to the torch: the torch it self is a pre-made factory torch. it runs off a rectifyed 110 wall current and draws 1-25 amps depending on what your doing... P.S. bipolarandy i knew that browns gas and HHO are the same along with Hydroxagen, but Klines gas i dident know about, thanks!
  17. At this point my shop is rather limited, how much would a brazing rig cost?
