We are allowed 2 deer in our county, but like my hunting partner says you have to get the first deer before your second. Not so easy when you let the little ones walk on by, got to let them grow up. As far as corn fed deer I'll eat them before I'll have one thats been grazing on sage brush. I'm going to stop the ribbing and let you Texans have the last word, don't want to hurt ya'll feelings. Good huntin' to you all.

;-)...that's OK. Those old Ohio deer are larger but we can bag 7 per year and including the archery-only session, the entire season spans Oct 1 thru late January in many counties. We can get out and hunt for almost 4 months at a stretch. So, looking at the whole picture, it's still bigger here... No it's not bigger there, it takes you 7 deer to make it the same size as one of ours. Plus you need that long of a season just to bag that many. Just some good old ribbing going on here!!! HWoolridge we do have a long hunting season here, but try going out in Jan. with a bow to hunt it is not very fun. I have even had some pretty darn cold Black Powder hunts. Good huntin' to you and bag those critters.

I'm jealous!!! Nice buck, I'm going Monday morning and taking my 13 year old next weekend. He got his first buck two years ago and his first Turkey at nine years old. Really like that statement about the texans, hit the nail on the head that time. HA-HA

Metal filings or boric acid added to borax, make sure boric acid is 100%

If you find the holes to big you can always build up some welds to shrink them up. Cool idea Thanks for sharing and let us know how it works out. We always like borrowing great ideas.

Just a suggestion if you are going to make a trip to Fort Vancouver call in advance to make sure of their hours. Hate to see you make a wasted trip to find them closed. I don't know anything about the place but in this area places are only open on the weekend this time of year. Have a safe trip.

Looks great!! Where do you get the wheels for the belt to ride on, and can you take some detailed pics to post? Been wanting to build one of these for some time now...just need something to go off of to build it.

I haven't taken any pictures yet want to try making them again using a larger diameter fuller. How do you make your copper candle cups?

I have been trying to make candle cups out of 3/4" copper pipe and it keeps on tearing on me. I am using a guilotine tool made out of leaf springs. Do I need to fuller it down with something that has wider stock? Something like 1/2" or 3/4" round.

The repairman1557 saw your post then saw where you are from, sorry to here about your bad luck!!! HA-HA Go Bucks!! Actually I'm making the trap for a friend that has a lot of wooded land and lets us hunt on it. They have a nice cabin on the property, and he mentioned about getting the trap to hang on the wall. He really doesn't want to pay the price for one. I decided it would probably mean more to him if it was made from me plus his wife likes all the blackiron work that I do. Would make a nice Christmas present.

I'm building mine for a wall hanger, the only bears in NW Ohio are at the zoo.

I have also been wanting to make a bear trap, what is the narrowest measurements on the jaws. Would also like thickness of metal and widest and narrowest measurements of springs. Thank you for your time.
