  6. Sweet talk, what is that?My wife smokes and over the last 10yrs I figure she has puffed away the equivalent of 2 new power hammers.Usually all my tools and such are paid through the forge work done except the powerhammer that is being delivered next week, she even thinks I need it!Gall darn it I love that woman.
  7. I like the way you used the ball bearings, nice work!
  8. try putting the point on the bar as the first step then do what you were doing afterwards,i hope it does the trick.
  9. If you came to my shoe repair shop I could fix you up,probably a little too far too travel though.I'm sure, like Brian said,a shoe repair is a good bet if the cobbler isn't too grumpy.Kinda of thought that might be from the glue fumes???

  11. hey Scott, when I noticed that on things I did and do the same thing you suggested and heat the whole piece,so it gets rid of the transition mark.
  12. I was wondering if any others have seen Jerry Darnells tapes or seen him demo his strap hinges or pintles.
  13. Jerry Darnell has excellent videos on making strap hinges and pintles. He upsets the end on an angle of about 60 degrees then turns it over on the edge of the anvil right behind the upset then puts 2 vees in the stock. Then he puts the vees on the horn and hammers it concave, this is where the round stock is wrapped. The upset part has the material to fill the void.Weld together, take another welding heat and weld the bottom while in the vice.Another welding heat and using a header flatten where the hinge will sit, draw out the point.I hope I have explained it for others to understand,I got the video from Centaur Forge. The pintles end up looking like they were made from one piece.
  14. I know with the Anyang hammers the more you push the foot pedal the harder they hit,so you can barely tap the piece or really hit it with great control. They are a very responsive machine.
  15. Hi Snag81 from the rock on the west coast,Vancouver Island,welcome.Steve.
  16. I wouldn't do my laundry without it,between 1/4 -1/2 cup per load added with your soap. All kinds of uses are listed on the box.

  19. Ragnarok,I know without a doubt you wouldn't regret going with the C41-15.They are an awesome hammer,it will amaze you how hard they hit.It will handle a piece of 1.5in axle like nothing.I am waiting for my own to come soon.
  20. but he couldn't READ the recipes!
  21. I forget who posted it but they said that boiled linseed oil contained mercury for drying purposes.Plain old linseed oil is what I would use, also can be used as a cattle laxative if the need comes about.
