  4. That's awesome man, congrats on your fist comission. I know for me I sell just enough stuff to keep my propane tank full and some metal in my shop. I love that I can fund my hobby with things that I sell to my friends.
  5. Beautiful gate, I love the overall flow of it, the bird is amazing.
  6. It's good to know that there is another blacksmith down in the Hocking Hills. I learned blacksmithing at Hocking College, and worked with several great smiths in the that region. I'm originally from Bremen. Perhaps the next time im down home I could swing by for a visit. Good luck and have fun.
  7. I've been looking at the ultra jig for a while. I'll have to save up for such a purchase, but I'm glad to see that someone is using it as well. Please keep us informed on how well it works for you.
  8. After reading though everything posted I see I'm going to have to try and make me a set as well. Perhaps I'll even get it right, after the fifth try lol
  9. That is sweet looking fire pit, once it's done you should get a pic of that in low light with a fire going in it. I'd bet it would look great. I also like the candle holders, great job all around.
  10. That looks way better than the crosses that I tried.
  11. Another great bottle opener, and I agree looks very snake like.
  12. Very Nice, that will look awesome on a railing.
  13. I see the second photo and I think I get it, I guess I just need a bit more info. Wow these frog are so cool.
  14. Looks like a great first bottle opener. You did a great job.
  15. What a great piece, just amazing. Where can I learn to make one of toughs froggers?
  16. I don't know how far you are willing to travel, but there is a historical village called Robbins Crossing on the Hocking College Campus that has a blacksmith Shop. They are only open on the weekends. You should be able to find some help there, that's where I got my start and spent many a year learning blacksmithing from the smith's there. Beyond I don't know of any other groups that far south. I hope this helps.
  17. Thank you for the kind words. Recently in the mail I received a very nice thank you letter from my friends. They are really enjoying the flowers, and I think I'm going to have to make a few more for my wife as well.
  18. Great looking openers all of them. I too went through many different versions before landing on an opener that I liked, and I'm still tweaking it. I'm going to have to give your version a try as well.
  19. A great looking dragon, much better than my recent attempts
  20. Looks good I like the leather lanyard on there.
  21. Right, peined tenon got it. Thanks Frosty
  22. I had a friend get Married last weekend down in Kentucky, and as a wedding gift I made them a pair of flowers. It was a bit of a rush job and it does show a bit, but they didn't turn out all that bad. I knew that they wouldn't have much starting out now body ever does when first getting married. But I felt like they should have some kind of art type thing to look at and admire from time to time. I took some 1/4inch and hammered out the stems, took some round flat's that I've had laying around to make the flower. Used a set of heavy duty tinsnips to cut out the design for the petals. I textured the petals and then hot riveted the whole thing together using the stem as the rivet. I won't lie it took me a couple of heats to get the flower, stem, and hammer all set just right so I could rivet in one heat. Anyhow please let me know what you think. http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37406-wedding-gift/ http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37405-wedding-gift/
