  5. I gave her my old forge. And when I get my new bigger anvil ill give here that one. She has my initials (cp) so as of now that will work. Anyway she's a employee of the circle CP Forge so her work can show that logo ! Lol

  8. I'm not shure what the steel was. And it was more purple than blue..
  9. not knocking your way im just being 100% shure i dont crack it.. no water at all... last night i just moved all the green cole over out of the way and left the hot stuff in the pot , can out this morning ad dug it out put in new hot coles from the stove coverd it up with the old fire pot cole from the day before and it took right off....so i think i got it now...
  10. i was not going to get into knife makeing but all i seem to get asked about is knifes , so i wipped this one out to see if i liked doing it , was fun and i like the way it came out, i do not like the nice finish im more into mountain man stile i guess you would say, not 100% on what the steel was but i cooled it fast with water then heated it up slowley at the forge till i seen the yellow then the dark brown then blueish then fast cool in water agen , took a edge good ? cut some wood with it and it stayed sharp.. anyway did i do ok for my first one ? will be looking around and getting some reading done here so hope to be showing more soon...

  13. That's why I put it on here to spark ideas! The Forge design is not good for long stock. I will be putting a small door in the back to poke my work through might think about that in your design. Maybe place the forge in the center of the building for you can work all the way around?

  15. I would not ever call it done.. but 7 months from an idea to functional is not bad..
  16. So far for a small production hobby shop it's working well and I still have a little space left looking at getting a power hammer

  18. Cold water on hot cast fire pot = big crack... I have an original champion whirlwind fire pot not looking to break an antique...

  21. What I'm going to do is leave all the green Cole to 1 side of the Forge. Rake the top of the fire pot on to the other side . Then it should all go out. And when I start the next time I can dig all the junk out of the fire pot Then scrape my coke in And start the fire....
  22. Why can't you just cut a hole in the top por the sand in Then weld it shut
  23. I have a cast iron fire pot, so I can not put water on it when Its hot
