here is my newest, its about 9 layers, i started with 2 layers of 5160 and 1 layer of L6, and folded a few times, i still havent heat treated it but it shows a nice pattern, i think anyways Ron

i built a propane burner similar to the T-Rex burner, i made it from black iron pipe i picked up at the hardware store, a few mig welding tips, and a few odds and ends, i bet i have less than $15.00 in it and it works great, if you would like pictures of it let me know Ron

i felt very bad for laughing when i watched that, i bet that hurt for months, i know now, i will never try to brand a horse, id kick someone if they tried that to me Ron

iv seen a few hammer heads that size, i have no idea what they are used for, if it were mine, i could crush stones, maybe crush cans, or just use it for physical therapy like i say every activity i do is Ron

i got the book, The Complete Bladesmith by Jim Hirisoulas, and a 4" milling machine vise with a swivle base, its a kurt lookalike to give you an idea Ron

This is what i made for a gift, a few lillys, its not finished yet, i need to wire brush it and then add a finish to it, brass brush and maybe some kind of wax, oh yeah it is the same piece in all 3 photos, i just put them together in different views front, left, and right Ron

thank you all for the advice, i have polished it with 220, then i tried heat treating it, i think i did ok for the first time, a file skates over it, im working on some kind of handle for it, i think i am going to just wrap some leather around it like you did FredlyFX, looks like a very simple idea, i will get a picture of it when it is all finished thanks again everyone Ron

ok, so yesterday i was trying to forge weld a bunch of bandsaw blade pieces, banding stock pieces together, everything was going just fine, i started with 11 pieces, welded them together, folded it 4 times, then i remembered i had a piece of 3/4 x 1/8 x 8" long pices of D2 tool steel laying around, so i figured what the heck, ill use it on this, so i got it all ready to forge this morning, fired up the forge, set the piece in the forge, when my phone rang, i was on it for about hmm let me look at my phone, 4 minutes and 15 seconds, i picked it up to hit it with the hammer to weld the tool steel to it, and it completely melted everything off the end of the handle i had attached to it, i did manage to get a small piece of it out of the forge, but for the most part 2/3 of it melted away, i did have a shut off valve on my burner with a needle valve to shut off most of the gas for such occassions, but the needle valve crapped out on me, and i took it off, and i thought i was doing so well on my first forge welded part, that was yesterday, what a change of days will do, ill get my needle valve fixed up and have another go at it as soon as i pick up another bandsaw blade Ron

ok i forged this knife from a railroad spike a little over a year ago, and i decided to finish it, i used a belt sander to smooth it out real nice, now i just need to polish it and make a handle for it, how do you knife makers get that nice polish look on your blades, this is more of a look knife than a functional one, not trying to get to fancy with it, but if you can give me some tips on how to get it nice and polished and any criticism anyone has please feel free, it can only help me learn Ron
