Using the Anyang 2 I was just drawing a point or tenoning... can't remember which. Great little hammer!

You want a piece of me?
  5. Pallet jack is a dang handy (and not TOO expensive) thing to have around for moving heavy stuff, provided you have a hard floor to run it on. Most of them will happily shift 5000lbs... but getting the stuff onto the pallet in the first place can be a bear. :)
  6. I would suggest Inventor... the engineers at my work use it and love it. Looks a lot easier than AutoCAD.

  8. Hillbilly, another oxygen tank? If you are heating with a torch, you may not be getting a through heat -- stainless is notorious for being a very, very poor conductor of heat.
  9. Archie, your piece's "shrinkage in the annealer" may be what I took to calling "visual shrinkage" when I was doing glass at Punahou... IE, piece looks bigger on the pipe than it does in your hand. Make a pair of smith's calipers or something to check for actual size. (Grin) Helped me a lot. Especially handy if you start doing encalmo...

My forge and small anvil set up on my lanai (porch). T-Gold
  11. A while back I took a couple of oak planks and drilled a series of matching 2-1/2" holes in each, then screwed each to a pair of vertical members with feet. About 18" between planks and a few inches' clearance above the floor, if memory serves. Nice because you can see the parts in there (unlike PVC), but only good down to stock the length of the rack's height. If this idea really does it for you I can take pictures of mine and post them.
  12. Pretty dang snazzy Would make a fine eating knife.
  13. Hmm, does that mean that the bright-finish wrenches are not galvanized, and that's just a tumbled finish or something on CrV steel? I can't really figure out to my satisfaction what that surfacing is. I'm pretty sure it's not galvy but it does look like some kind of plate...
  14. Very fine work! I like those. May have to give that a try.
  15. Well, I used the Anyang 33# at a demo for a few days. Great little hammer. Kicks like a mule. Can't say anything about the wear rate or anything like that, though, since I only used it at a demo. :)
  16. Me, I just work with the horn on my right... wouldn't bother me a bit. Usually.
  17. I would leave it, I like when my tools have that old partial paint finish... But if I were you, I'd go over it with a coarse scotchbrite pad or wheel to take off the loose rust and the paint, and then let it brown (going over it again once in a while to smooth the browning). If you want to accelerate the process, take it outside and put a little bleach on it, and then scotchbrite again. Gives that nice smooth rust finish.
  18. Oh, I forgot to mention -- because of how plasma cuts, you can sever twice the thickness it's rated to if you can get to the opposite side of the piece. This is a LOT harder with OA than it is with plasma, though OA also cuts thicker stock (crank that oxy!). I have cut 1" with our shop cutter, which is rated to sever 1/2". (Couldn't find any torch tips bigger than 00. Oxy cranking only goes so far.)
  19. I have spent a fair bit of time on a Hypertherm -- cannot remember the size at the moment. They are solid dependable machines, and I am inclined to believe that parts will be available for a long time to come. Consumables are reasonably priced for the one I use.
  20. A beyootiful chimenea At least, that's what we'd call it in the States.

    10 Inches Tongs

Nolano, chain hoist or power hoist. You can see it in some of Kallsme'n's other posts.
  22. We call it "colliery". A charcoal-maker is a collier.
  23. Glenn, no air in the barrel = no flashback. Just like a gas forge.
