  1. This is awesome info. thanks all
  2. Cost and ease of constructions will be the two deciding factors in building the shop. I was plannin on metal roofing as it seems to be the easiest. I never thought about the roof being so high.
  3. I just got the approval to build a shop for me and my brother-in-law to forge in. we were thinking of a 16' by 24' shed to give eash of us a 16' by 12' work aria. is this a good size? how high should i build the roof (i am 6'4" and brother 5'9")? also i was thinking of calling my smithy Sinister Forge. (i am a Left-handed and Sinister is Latin for Left-handed.) has that been used? thanks
  4. I am in south Louisianan and when it not raining it is hot. i dint have a shed yet (just got the paperwork done so i can build one)so i forge out in the sun. I keep an igloo cooler full of cool water while i am out there forging.

  8. thanks for this info. i never heard of the fire extinguisher needing to be replaced.
  9. it opened prity good but when tightining it one side was tighter than the other. one sire was closed and the other had a 1/4 inch gap.
  10. I will buy it if no one else has dibs on it. thanks
  11. thanks. i was afraid a wire brush on an angle grinder would be too hard on the vice. A friend of mine told me that engine block paint may be a way to keep it from rusting (after i clean it up)
  12. how much would i cost to ship to Baton Rouge, LA? i am currently borrowing a blower and would love to get my own.
  13. My wife surprised my with an early Fathers day gift this evening after work. A 65lbs post vise. i see a lot of cleaning in my future Any pointers on the best way to clean it up? My plan is a wire brush and elbow grease once i get all the rust off, what is the best way to protect it? I have done one Demo for an American Civil War reenactment (a lot of fun but i don't know much) and would like to be able to bring his out to events. also is the spring bent too much? If so any advice on fixing it? thanks
