The term "negative space" sounds like the interior of a blacksmith shop. (grin) There are many definitions I am sure, but for this discussion, what is negative space in a artistic context, and can it be used in the design of blacksmithing projects? Do you or have you used negative space?

Look at IForgeIron > Blueprints > BP0333 55 Forge with a Supercharger Soft bituminous coal produces volumes of smoke, but with this set up and a little fire maintenance you may be surprised just how little smoke the forge produces. You should start with a good fire from sticks, then add coal keeping a flame present to burn the smoke produced. The heat from the fire produces draft. The draft sucks in air which increases the burning of smoke. The heat from the burning smoke produces more draft. The draft dilutes any remaining smoke.

If he holds a demo session in Calif, you could attend at the cost of plane fare, and the freight would only be from Ca to Hi. Doubt that they would allow it as carry-on luggage. (grin)

What is the proper angle for a hot cut hardie? Is there a proper length to the angle before it reaches the base plate? As this is being used only on HOT metal, can it be made from mild steel or is there a better material to use?
