Rich Hale
Is designed this knife with a hunter wearing gloves in mind and it feels good with bare hands and even better with gloves. The blade is four and a half inches or so and the handle is longer than that. Blade steel is ATS-34 and has been professionaly heat and cryo treated. The scales are exquisite desert ironwood and the pins and guard are 416 stainless.
civilwarblacksmith
Really looks nice, Rich. Beautiful work. What did you use for the finish on the handle?
tech413
That is a very nice piece, how long does it take you to make something like that?

Rich Hale
There is no finish needed on desert ironwood just fine sand and buff. Too late Woody it sold a few minutes after being posted on here...

Rich Hale
I use an electroetch machine and custom stencils for my logo. There is a bp on etching in the blueprints section of this site...
Canska
I use an electroetch machine and custom stencils for my logo. There is a bp on etching in the blueprints section of this site... I've been looking for an effective way to etch for a while. Would that be this blueprint? Has anyone had success with that method? I'd think cutting out the mask/stencil by hand would produce inconsistent results. Can you elaborate on your electroetch machine, please? Rich Hale
The machine is made by electro etch and I believe most knife suppliers sell them. Send me a private note if you wish and I will tell you where mine came from.
Feukair
Very nice piece. I love the way the tips of your blades dip slightly. Whenever i see a blade that does that I think "like Rich Hale's blades".
