Daswulf
What a great video. Thanks for sharing it John. I'll have to watch it about 20 more times or so. The guy is so efficient and good that he makes it look easy but it isn't. I wonder if that is steel or wrought iron.
ThomasPowers
Daswulf, I bet you would be just as good as he was after the first hundred thousand links you forge! I really like that small anvil he uses and the few tools needed. Makes me wonder why I'm not doing more with all the stuff I have in my shop! Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I was thinking wrought iron from the sparks and heat used prior to welding.
Daswulf
Thomas I was admiring that little anvil he was using for the links as well. Also cringing a little at his hammering right next to the hardy in the larger anvil. The larger anvil had a nice purposed point on the end as well. No doubt to get that good he has done a Lot of links. I was thinking maybe wrought iron but I know steel can be welded without flux in the right conditions as well. I haven't forge welded any wrought iron yet.
Davor
Can someone explain the large anvil stile? I saw pictures of such anvil with the holes, was baffled about it, now that I saw the bolts in the holes I am still baffled.
