RetiredAtLast
I just found this forum which appears to be a current forum. I have a Soderfors anvil that my mother in law gave me several years ago and have not been able to find much about this anvil. I see where Soderfors are quite common but I have not seen any that come close to matching the specs of mine. Its stamped with the Soderfors mark. It has the weight of 77 lbs also stamped on one side and on the other side it is stamped 1807. Any info would be greatly appreciated from guys on this forum that have the expertise. Thanks in advance, Terry
Frazer
Hey Terry, welcome aboard! If you add your general location to your profile you may be surprised how many local smiths live in your area. I can attest that Soderfors makes an excellent anvil. Would you be willing to share some pictures? What sort of information are you looking for? Here are a few threads on Soderfors anvils: https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/37417-soderfors/ https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/67797-soderfors-numeric-code-1807/ https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/34878-soderfor-forged-steel-anvil-or-not/ There are a few others, but to do your own site search type "site:iforgeiron.com soderfors" (without the quotes) into your browser. RetiredAtLast
Frazer, Thanks some much for the quick response !!! I will look at the links you provided. I just like the history on old things like me. lol I live in North Alabama. Sure there are plenty of folks around that do blacksmith works. Since my first time on the forum, I’ll try to figure out how to post pictures. I won’t be back home until next week. Thanks again - Terry
Frosty
Welcome aboard Terry, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location i the header you'll have a chance of hooking up with members living within visiting distance. Telling us in one post won't stick in anybody's mind after we open another post. I'm a huge fan of Soderfors anvils, a 125lb Sorceress #5 is the main go to anvil in my shop. Frosty The Lucky.
