Jspool
Here’s a field version of the feathered damascus/elk version I posted earlier. This folding skinner is utilizing .150 80CVR20 steel for the stone washed 4” blade. Liners are titanium, and the scales are canvas micarta. ThomasPowers
Now that one looks like it's intended for field use! I especially like the enhanced grip work on the scales as skinning can get quite messy at times. Have you tried it out yet?
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Have you seen a bike tire pump used to skin a deer?
ThomasPowers
Using the method described in "Swiss Family Robinson", published in 1812?
Jspool
I haven’t been hunting since I left Alaska. Now if I can take an elk within 1/2 mile of the road I’d think about it! ow I’ll have to go to Youtube to investigate inflating animals! Chris C
That's one good looking folding skinner, Jspool. I like it. The carving and texturing on the scales is superb. Well done.
Frosty
I like your folder, it looks like a practical hunting knife, especially the grips. I've never tried the tire pump method of skinning game, a moose takes a LOT of pumping to free up the hide. However canned aerosol tire inflator would probably work a treat. Don't use the "Fix A Flat" version though, I don't think the goo it squirts to plug holes would be a good marinate. The canned nitrogen and a ball inflation needle wouldn't take up much room and be light. Bummer I don't hunt anymore, I'd like to give it a try. Frosty The Lucky. Jspool
Perhaps a CO2 shark dart? Pretty portable!
