George N. M.
As an old infantryman who "saw the elephant" in Viet Nam 49 years ago it is my duty and honor to remind everyone that this is not just the first long weekend of summer. It is the day to remember the young men and women of all the wars who never had the chance to grow old as we fortunate ones have. "They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning We shall remember them. -Laurence Binyon
ThomasPowers
Saw my Grandfather 2 weeks ago; he was a Marine in WWII and part of the Battle of Iwo Jima; though it took him 50 years before he would talk about it.
swedefiddle
Memorial Day, I'm sure is everyday of the Year!! My wife's Grandfather flew in WWI. NEVER allowed any conversation or spoke to anyone, regarding it. Took it to his grave. Neil

Kevin Olson
To the posters above. Your words hold true to what it means to serve our country. I tried to write a poem but decide these song lyrics sum up my thoughts instead. "All Gave Some, Some Gave All" Billy Ray Cryus

Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I rang the anvil 5 times at sunrise & sunset yesterday in remembrance of those who gave all, in the five branches of our armed forces. U.S. Coast Guard, U.S Marines, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. My boyhood best friend, Thomas Carter joined the Marines at the same time I joined the Coast Guard in 1964. He became a helicopter pilot and was shot down over Vietnam, KIA rest in peace Tommy we still miss ya.
