I Forge Iron

Age of this Arm and Hammer Anvil

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody,

I’m from Shreveport, Louisiana. After a conversation at work the other day about anvils, I decided to get Papaw’s old one out and try to figure out what it is. Growing up I can always remember this anvil being down at the barn. He passed away in 2010 and regretfully I never asked him about the history of it. After a little research I see that it’s a good quality Arm and Hammer 87#. The serial # is 25198. Can somebody tell me the year it was made? And any comments on condition would be appreciated. Thanks

We won't remember that once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show it, also the guide line to posting large pictures.

A good looking A&H, have you read about not grinding, milling or welding on the hardened face?
