It weighs 84 lbs on a bathroom scale. That’s pretty close to 81. But looking at the numbers real close, the 8 and 9 look the same. Size and depth. The 1 is noticeably wider.

Hello Everybody, I’m from Shreveport, Louisiana. After a conversation at work the other day about anvils, I decided to get Papaw’s old one out and try to figure out what it is. Growing up I can always remember this anvil being down at the barn. He passed away in 2010 and regretfully I never asked him about the history of it. After a little research I see that it’s a good quality Arm and Hammer 87#. The serial # is 25198. Can somebody tell me the year it was made? And any comments on condition would be appreciated. Thanks
