lumettamichel3
i am looking to buy a 50- 150 lbs anvil
ThomasPowers
New, used? London pattern, Japanese swordsmith pattern? Italian Pattern?...does it make a difference? What do you plan to use it for: English fat waisted anvils are better for things like bladesmithing; where the late 19th century/early 20th century wasp waisted American anvils are great for ornamental work. How much money are you looking to spend. Have you tried the TPAAAT in your area? Are you willing to pay shipping from the other side of the world? I guess you are since you are asking on an international forum and didn't mention any distance limits.
Glenn
Figure out what type work you want to do and but an anvil that can support that type of work. Heavier is better for general work, with 100 to 150 pounds being a reasonable weight. Jewelry does not require a 150 pound anvil, and architectural and ornamental blacksmithing would benefit from a heavier anvil. Use TPAAAT and be patient. Start accumulating the cash needed now so it is available when you find the deal.
Marc1
i suggest you buy a Nimba Titan ... 120 lb, made in the USA. Or a Refflinghaus model 56 or 56a.
BLDSMTH
I would recommend Holland anvils. The owner of the foundry is a regular member here. I plan on buying both of his swage blocks and a double horn. I'm lucky to be here in west Michigan to be able to pick them up but he is willing to ship. Glenn
You may want to look at Jymm Hoffman's anvils also.
