ThomasPowers
Was it something I said? I've been working on a forged Ti eating set, knife fork spoon, not real happy with it but they will work to eat with at the SWABA meetings. I still need to do a plate and cup but may have to do that from SS as my Ti stock is limited in starting size. Thomas
meco3hp
Hello, I'm not sure where everybody is. It's been slow around here this week so far. Working on a hot cut hardie, from a truck axel.
Ed Thomas
Yep, we're all shunning you and not talking to you, Thomas. Oops. I wasn't supposed to say anything. For my part, I've been making and installing windows for my shop. Finally finished today. Not much forging to write about when you're busy on the building. T-Gold
Thomas, I might be able to hook you up with a block of 6AL4V if you can forge it to size... in exchange for telling me how to cut it and stuff like that... it's part of a helicopter rotor hub assembly. :)
ThomasPowers
In general I try to stick to CP Ti or alpha alloys 6AL4V is an alph-beta alloy and forging of beta alloys has been reported as producing flu like symptoms in the smith. As for the CP stuff I've cut it with a hacksaw---very tedious. It's dead soft at forging temps so I do most of my cutting with a hot cut. I have some 2"x3"x5' Ti stock waiting for the triphammer to come on line. I'm hunting my Ti sheet which I haven't seen since the move...sigh. Glenn
Thomas we were all waiting to see who would blink first  The following is just an excuse for not posting on the forum, but was the best I could do on short notice. In November, IForgeIron.com: * added a new section - The New Stuff to clean up the clutter on the front page * added 2 Blueprint sub-indexes with 7 blueprints * added a new BP index on DOT-NET * added Smith 'n Sledge a panel cartoon about blacksmithing by the international artist Duck. * added IForgeIron Store. * added a new BP index on DOT-NET * posted or presented a total of 37 new Blueprints * posted 4 new stories * posted 3 places where Ian was located trying to find blacksmiths * posted 1 Report from to Ian's world tour We have to thank the contributors for making all this possible. After lunch I did a little forge work, took the wife to the store, tried to catch up on my email and do a little reading.
