You got both examples I was thinking of; with the induction forge being the primary one as the heating through beating is more a "smithy trick"

You going to post a smithing koan now?

I was hammering smaller screws flat "cold" to make some feathers. I picked one out of the tongs and burnt my fingers pretty good.

Just saw this part, had to look up what a koan was. Wouldn't beating metal hot enough to start your fire, so you can heat your metal in the fire to beat it, be a koan? I did find this one already written, but he must not have had the PPE.
