April 6, 20188 yr I was surfing the web and came across this interesting study from the association of metallurgical engineers of serbia. They diluted molasses with water to the viscosity of 40wt oil and used it as a quench for high carbon steel. From the info provided, it looks like the molasses quench hardened better than the oil.
