yesteryearforge
For all of you west coast smiths here is something that may be of interest to you Ebay listing # 250227648963 Mike Tanner
larrynjr
I just placed a bid on that auction and though I am current high bidder, the reserve still hasn't been met. All that including a Kerrihard power hammer I'm guessing he want's quite a charge of $$.Vintage blacksmith shop complete - eBay (item 250227648963 end time Mar-29-08 20:31:33 PDT)
Chuck Richards
Man that's right across the river from me.. Race ya:D;):D
larrynjr
you can get there first but first you have to outbid me! If I win it, maybe I'll get a chance to stop at your forge and say hello!
Chuck Richards
too rich for my blood. i don't have anyplace to put it either. would have to move my hammer. don't want to downgrade to a 30lb hammer. the 2 anvils sound nice though. and a few misc pieces..good luck i hope i goes to an active smith. preferably you larry
larrynjr
We'll see how it goes, so far my bid hasn't met the reserve minimum. I'll wait until either someone out bids me and then up my bid to my maximum or wait until just before it closes and bid my max and see if I can meet the reserve price. nuge
reserve on that auction is 9200$ (I asked)
markb
$9200.00 Is there a gold brick in that pile that I missed.
nett
$9200.00 sounds about right if it was a Dutch auction. To rich for my blood.
Frosty
Good thing shipping would've been a couple $k so I didn't even consider bidding and am not choking now. Frosty
larrynjr
Holy Xxxx! Even if everything were brand new, It doesn't seem like it would cost much more than $9200. Far to rich for my blood. He should add more pictures with better details of the power hammer if he really expects to get that kinda green for that stuff. At that level I won't even bother try to increase my bid. Chuck Richards
Actually I would have guessed 10k. By the description someone has at least a little bit of an idea how much the stuff could be worth. Heck a 30# hammer in working condition is worth a grand or so.
larrynjr
I contacted the seller also and he confirms the reserve at $9200 and said that if it does not sell he'll add more pictures when he relists it. He is out of town and doesn't have the pictures available to do it now. It certainly won't be selling to me!
dablacksmith
ya I agree he thinks hes got gold instead of iron! I wish him luck!
larrynjr
This guy must need the $$ cause I woke up to an email from EBay saying he had reoffered it at my high bid. I immediately went there and bought it!Vintage blacksmith shop complete - eBay (item 250233651298 end time Apr-05-08 08:42:06 PDT) This is an amazing amount of blacksmithing equipment and I am stoked! nett
Cool! I'm really happy you bagged the collection. You are going to have a blast when you get your hands on stuff and inventory it, I know I would. Betcha you find a couple of odd 'what is it?' items that you can share with us. I look forward to seeing more photos in the future.
larrynjr
From the equipment list, there are multiple's of some items that I'll probably want to pass on to other deserving smith's. Once I get the details worked out and bring it home I'll definately keep you all informed and pictures posted. I'm so glad I held off ordering that Nimba Centurian anvil. I would not have had the money for this if I had ordered.
Frostfly
Feel free to stop off at my place on the way by and drop a few items off :-) Or if your interested in reselling some of the items I might be interested.
larrynjr
:( I just got a message from the seller and he messed up with his listing and will not sell at that price. Said he has $9k into the equipment. He won't be getting a good review from me.
