I know swan manufacture good products but i can't find any other uk based companies. I will relocate this to the forge section for you. drew247 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Share Posted May 15, 2017 I started at google as if you type in gas forges uk, you basically get swan forges and the rest are wholesalers of gas forges (normally swan too), such as Stromsholme etc and then you get the american manufcaturers hence why i put this post out too see if anybody on the coal face knew of any other companies manufacturing them in the uk. Mikey's comment about Flamefast reminds me that Vaughan's Hope Works sells their ceramic chip hearths and also a funny little gas forge. http://www.anvils.co.uk/alcosa-blacksmiths-forges/product/1843-mk2-portable-forge.html Although I do not have one of Cecil's (he is an old friend...very old!) Swan forges, I know lots of people who do and they are extremely robust and efficient. I make my own and I prefer blown burners and heavy castable liners...more appropriate for my work, but like all things to do with optimum tools, they have advantages and disadvantages depending on the work you wish to use them for. They are a pottery supplier and I get most of my refractory products from them, as well as having a couple of their burners in my forges. Mikey98118 Posted May 18, 2017 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Swan forges are okay; I saw one of them demonstrated at the blacksmith conference in Kentucky ( 2006), but Flamefast are the cuys who will give you ulcers.
