May 9, 20179 yr At the local meet up I did a rope twist that I saw in a book my fiancé got me for Christmas. So I melted marbles into it and made. Well? A thing.
May 9, 20179 yr Looks cool. would look better with a clear Photo. LOL I like the idea. did it melt the marbles a bit to lock them in?
May 9, 20179 yr Author I'll have to take a new picture of it. But I melted them took roughly 15-20min to get all 6 of them to slump and slowly cool off.
May 9, 20179 yr I tries some twisted bar ( kinda like the christmas tree ornaments with the marble) and I melted the marble. lol it was still cool but I ended up using a steel ball bearing. I'll have to try that again some time. Yeah Please get a better pic. I like the concept.
May 9, 20179 yr Author I kept it in the dragons breath for a couple seconds than pull it out let it air cool for a 5 to 10 seconds. And repeat until the metal is black and the marbles solidified. Than I did that a few more times. Than I left it on top of the fire brick on the forge for about 30min than I let it cool normally.
May 9, 20179 yr I was thinking something like that would look great for flowers or leaves in a sculpture.

May 9, 20179 yr Thanks Axe. Was wondering how you kept the glass intact. I love mixed media art, just adds another level of interest to the piece. This idea has so many possibilities. I look forward to seeing more "things".
May 12, 20179 yr Wow, what a great "thing". Do the marbles come out pretty clean looking or do you have to shine them up?
May 13, 20179 yr Next time draw out an end and coil it into a loop so you can hang it in the window as a light catcher! You could still drill a hole but would not want to reheat and forge it!
