CTBlades
More practice in the shop today. While waiting for the rigidizer to cure in my new forge I decided to get some more practice in so I made this "Nutty Scorpion". These things seem to be popular so I gave one a shot then I had a couple once done lol.
Frosty
Not having fun with that new welder are you Ray? Pretty cool, makes a boy want to dump out the kitchen junk drawer doesn't it? Frosty The Lucky.
CTBlades
Lol yes sir it does and I've already been thinking about it. Someone approached me this morning on FB wanting to know if it's for sale and how much.....problem is I have no idea what or how to price it or I would sell it....:(
Daswulf
Good looking scorpion CT. Ah yeah... Haha. Pricing. That was a problem I had/have. What is your time worth? How much time do you have into it? How much in materials, consumables, utility's? Are there similar? What are they selling for? I've gotten some good pointers from some great people and I'm still not good at dealing with that aspect.
CTBlades
Thanks Das, I can figure the material and disposable stuff, ie power etc...materials are all scrap my time is the biggest issue. I'm old, slow and unskilled so it takes me way longer than most so I couldn't really charge for my time like I do for things that I am efficient in. ThomasPowers
Price it at a point where you would be happy to have to do a dozen more just like it...and remember having all the parts scrounged free on the first one many not work when someone wants a dozen! (Of course having to go to the scrap yard is such a privation!!!---I love hunting for the "clean out gramps old garage and scrap everything" loads)
CTBlades
Lol yep, gotta love those "clean out gramma garage" piles. I ended up asking 80.00 and it's sold.....Wahoo my first sculpture sold...lol....ok but more wire and gas lol.
Daswulf
Sounds great CT. Congrats. Like Thomas said, later you may not source the free material. And some materials you may never find the same again.
CTBlades
Thanks Das, I was thinking 50 and said 80. The woman said ok so I was like thank you ma'am....inside I was like Hell yeah!!!! Lol
Daswulf
Like I was told by ... Someone, it's easier to come down on price then it is to go up.
coldironkilz
Congrats CT. Funny how folks (just like us) get a real kick out of identifying the various objects that make up the piece.
CTBlades
So true Das, so true. Thank you cold. It never ceases to amaze me what people identify with....and will buy. Lol....maybe someday when I grow up I can do this for a living....oh wait, I'm already retired lol....
