March 14, 201610 yr Aus, that's clearly an extremely rare, vintage, antique, heelless anvil, used by blacksmiths forced to work in cramped corners. Even rarer than the heelless anvil is one that also features a rear step face. The regular step faced anvils turn up from time to time, and fetch a pretty penny, but that... that might just be a real treasure.
March 14, 201610 yr Every once and a while I like to go to flea bay, just to see how ridiculous prices have gotten. I'm never disappointed.
March 14, 201610 yr For this much $$ I would expect a full log book of all important jobs it was ever used for, a 100 page account by witnesses of what caused the heel to be broken time and location, job being done and the fool who did it.
March 14, 201610 yr Hard to really tell from the picture but the rest of it looks clean. Must have been abused fast and hard then put away wet. Yeah he's dreaming lol.
March 14, 201610 yr Move the decimal to the left two digits and you got a deal...however I expect free shipping.
March 14, 201610 yr I own a heeless anvil with a pretty much perfect thick hard face that I happily paid US$40 for. I've added a prosthetic hardy hole to it and use it a lot for students of dubious hammer control and for striking with heavy hammers. It's a Powell. though the stamping is unclear for the last part. I've been thinking of making it a Powers just to mess with folks in the future...
March 19, 201610 yr Yeah nope!! Pipe dream for sure. For that kind of money it better be gold plated studded with diamonds!!
