I am certainly well aware that railroad in the horizontal position makes a less than satisfactory anvil, I'd much rather work on my Peter Wrights. That being said, I decided that it would be a fun project. I think it will be useful for some of my other metal hobbies. Machined, forged, hardened and tempered just like the real deal.

to clarify, how did you go about forging it if you made it from RR Track?

Possibly drew out the horn? That's how I plan to ale a pair of traveling anvils
